Jaya Stenquist is a writer based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Stenquist was a 2018-2019 poetry fellow in the Loft Mentor Series and honorable mention in fiction. Her work has received support from NES Artist Residency, the Loft Literary Center, Kunstnarhuset Messen, and the Minnesota State Arts Board. A two time recipient of the Nevin Prize from the Academy of American Poets, she was a winner of the 2014 Intro Journals Award from the Association of Writers and Poets. In 2013, she was awarded the Martha Meir Rank Distinguished Graduate Fellowship in Poetry at the MFA program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She completed her BA at Wellesley College.
Stenquist edited The Wellesley Review and served as Poetry Editor for Devil's Lake. She worked in both an editorial and production role during her time at Milkweed Editions. She is currently developing the poetry program for Vermillion Ink Press, a collective dedicated to profiling thought provoking artists underrepresented in the American literary landscape, launching spring of 2020.
